ERIC WILSON / 1984 - FLORIDA

Eric Wilson is an American contemporary artist born in Panama City, Florida.  He is self-taught, and after the military, relocated to Tampa where his studio is based and currently exhibits his work.  He is proficient in realist portraiture and figurative painting, and has a wide breadth of range in impressionism, landscapes, abstract, perspective drawing, and pop art.

His current body of work, the Erotic Gold Series, is a body-positive realist figurative painting collection using the techniques of the Flemish masters to represent intrinsic and extrinsic forces on fearless self-expression. This series is about self-confidence and empowerment, resoluteness in self-identity, your beliefs and lifestyle, and the power of personal choice in a diverse society.  The series promotes boldly embracing all of the things that make you who you are, regardless of what may change in your life. Beauty and popularity fade, money is spent or lost, some goals unattained, and people come and go.  Then we introspect, adapt, and find ourselves all over again through the experiences that shape us.  The work challenges viewers to awaken and fall in love with a larger sense of self.
